30g Extra High

New Tank

Replaced the 20g high with a 30g extra high this weekend, it took about 10 hours of work to do the switch and I stayed up all night one night. It is considerably bigger and I scrubbed all of the hair algae from the live rock from the tank with a toothbrush, so everything looks a lot nicer. Having a clean, algae-free tank makes a huge difference and I moved the trooper damsel from the sump into the 30g tank where he is much happier. The new tank is about 8 inches taller, and the light seems to be at a decent level as is, so I'm leaving it where it is. Everything seems to have survived the move and looks great, with the exception of a few mushrooms and algae/caulerpa from the sump. I also added 20 more pounds of dry reef sand in addition to the sand that was in the old 20g so there is now about 3 inches of sand on the bottom. It should be seeded and live in a few weeks. There are a few small patches of hair algae left, but I'm going to brush them off if it becomes a problem.
