Fix voice command "error opening shortcut".
Remap the PTT key:
AT&T Forum Description
1. Delete the PTT registry settings under HKLM/Services/PTT. Delete the whole sub tree.
2. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
Add a new key called "40C6"
Add a string under the key called "Name" with the value "Button 6"
Add a new key called "40C7"
Add a string under this key called "Name" with the value "Button 6 (hold)"
3. Go to the Buttons settings and assign a program to the new entries.
4. Soft reset.
Remove AT&T Bloatware (useless software):
1. Backup everything.
2. Hard reset (will return unit to factory settings).
3. Configure as usual, then when Windows Mobile comes up, it says "Configuration will start in 3 seconds", do a soft reset before the 3 seconds are up.
4. No more bloat.
My Network Config is fine after removing bloatware, but just in case, here are the settings:
MEdia Net
Cellular Line (GPRS,3G)
Access Point name: wap.cingular
username: ISP@CingularGPRS.com
password: CINGULAR1
Advanced: Use server-assigned IP
Use server-assigned addresses
AT&T ISP GPRS

Remove the internet connection prompt in java apps (JBED):
1. Copy the file \windows\appdb\selector.utf to your pc
2. Remove read-only attribute
3. Open the file with a text editor (I used XP's Wordpad) and find the line
Code:
domain=untrusted, \
change it to
Code:
domain=tckmax, \
4. Overwrite the original on the phone.
OR, use this app to make the change:
Download file
Just copy your \windows\appdb\selector.utf file into the same directory on your PC where the Fix.exe file is (within the attached zip) and run Fix.exe.
It will create a new selector.utf and backup your original as selector.bak.utf You can then overwrite your PPC's version.
Change the volume and speed of Voice Command voice:
Changing the speed of Microsoft voice command
\HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Speech\Voices and on the key DefaultTTSRate (default value is 4 )
Increasing the number will increase the speed of the narration, while decreasing the number will slow it.
increase the volume , navigate to
HKCU\Control Pannel\SoundCategories\VoiceCommand1 Then change the value of AttenuationCategory from 4 to 1
Sound of the voice command will be even higher than the ringing tone.
You can also change the value of InitVol to 40.
get into your registry...HKEY_CURRENT_USER/control panel/sound catagories/ring. Here you will find2 setting at the bottom..."InitVol" ans "Speaker". Open these both, and change the "value" number higher than what you show. I have both set to 15...initvol was at 5, speaker was at 8 when I first got it. I also opened up the "alarm" file at the top of the tree and made sure that speaker value was set to 15 as well.
Change the baud rate in Settings, System, External GPS, Hardware to 9600. Although it didn't seem to have the change applied (it's still saying 4800), it works.
